A driver in Birmingham was caught travelling at 46mph in a 20mph speed limit zone, marking the most severe case of speeding in such an area in the city this year. The incident occurred on Vincent Drive, a stretch of road that passes close to both the University of Birmingham and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
This speed is more than double the legal limit and would be considered dangerous even on a 30mph road, highlighting a blatant disregard for the rules. The offence came to light following a freedom of information request made to BirminghamLive.
The driver was apprehended by the police and faced consequences for the reckless behaviour. The enforcement reflects ongoing efforts to uphold speed restrictions, especially in areas with reduced limits aimed at enhancing road safety.
