Woman Sexually Assaulted on Train to Birmingham; Police Release CCTV Image

A disturbing incident occurred on a train traveling from Edinburgh to Birmingham on Thursday, October 23, when a woman was sexually assaulted while asleep. The victim awoke to find a man sexually assaulting her at approximately 9 am.

The suspect exited the train at Wolverhampton station shortly after the attack. British Transport Police have since released a CCTV image of a man they urgently wish to speak to in connection with the case.

Described as a white male with a shaved head and clean-shaven face, the man was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, white trainers, and carrying a mobile phone.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police stated: “Do you recognize this man? Detectives investigating a sexual assault onboard a train between Edinburgh and Wolverhampton are seeking information from the public. The incident occurred around 9am on October 23. The suspect disembarked at Wolverhampton station.”

Authorities believe the individual in the CCTV image may provide crucial information to aid the investigation. Anyone with knowledge of his identity is encouraged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, referencing case number 221 of October 23, 2025. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

The police are appealing to the public for assistance to ensure the suspect is identified and brought to justice swiftly.
