A 58-year-old woman confronted two police officers with aggression and physical violence after her request to reopen an alleged assault case was denied at West Bromwich Police Station.
Jinder Dhariwal attended the station seeking to have a previous case revisited. However, officers reported that she was hostile from the beginning. The situation escalated when the officers informed her they could not proceed with her request.
According to court reports, Dhariwal threatened the officers saying, “if you touch me, you are going to get it,” while clenching her fists. The incident intensified further when she was pushed back onto the counter and subsequently kicked two officers in the leg.

During an interview, Dhariwal expressed remorse and explained that her behaviour was influenced by a bipolar disorder diagnosis and her distress over the Crown Prosecution Service’s decision to take no further action in the original assault case.
One of the officers injured described the encounter in a statement read out in court: “We tried to talk to the defendant, but were met with swearing, name calling and eventually an assault, where we were both kicked. The injuries were minor, but given the initial level of aggression, the outcome could have been much worse.”
Dhariwal pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker. The incident occurred on 3 April 2022 and was dealt with during a hearing on 10 September 2023 at Dudley Magistrates' Court.
Her legal representative acknowledged that Dhariwal was upset due to the CPS’s decision but accepted this did not justify her actions. The defence described the assault as “low-level” and noted that one officer had pushed Dhariwal onto the counter.
Magistrates sentenced Dhariwal to pay a total of £120 in compensation, divided equally between the two officers.
