Roman has etched his name in Who Wants To Be A Millionaire history by becoming the seventh contestant ever to win the coveted £1 million prize. The show returned to ITV on Sunday night with Jeremy Clarkson as host, and Roman was the third player to sit in the iconic hot seat this series.
His journey began with a shaky start, requiring two lifelines within the first two questions. For the £1,000 question, Roman used Ask The Audience to identify the secret ingredient in mayonnaise—eggs. Then, on the £2,000 question, he relied on Phone A Friend to confirm that Uniqlo is a Japanese brand.
Despite this rocky opening, Roman regained his composure and advanced through the game with confidence. By the time he faced the £1 million question, he still had two lifelines remaining: 50/50 and Ask The Host (Jeremy Clarkson).

The final question was challenging: “Used since 1876, which trademarked logo is described in the James Joyce novel ‘Ulysses’ and depicted in works by Manet and Picasso?” The answer choices were Bass Ale, Coca-Cola, The Famous Grouse, and Stella Artois.
Roman skillfully narrowed his options using the 50/50 lifeline and confidently selected Bass Ale without even needing to use Ask The Host. His correct answer secured the grand prize, and he admitted, “It doesn’t feel real at the moment, it hasn’t sunk in yet.”
Roman had originally planned to use his winnings for a new kitchen, but with this life-changing victory, his dreams are bound to be far grander. He now joins a distinguished group of just seven UK contestants to have won the £1 million prize on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire since the show’s launch in 1998.
The last UK millionaire before Roman was Donald Fear in 2020, who impressively claimed the jackpot during Jeremy Clarkson’s tenure on the show while using only one lifeline.
