The Lunar New Year falls on Tuesday, February 17, and Birmingham’s Chinese Festival Committee along with the Birmingham Hippodrome are set to kick off celebrations on this day.
Throughout the half term week, families can enjoy funfair rides and market stalls at Hippodrome Square. The vibrant festival stage in Southside will host traditional and contemporary music, dance, and theatre performances.
Best of all, the events are free to attend! The main Chinese New Year festival celebration takes place on Sunday, February 22, featuring a traditional lion procession across Hippodrome Square and Chinatown to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse.
