Wetherspoons is expanding its presence across the UK with five new pub openings scheduled for December 2025. In total, the chain has confirmed seven new venues launching between late 2025 and early 2026.
JD Wetherspoon, which operates nearly 800 pubs nationwide, has seen strong trading performance in recent months. For the year ending July 27, the company reported revenues of £2.13 billion—a 4.5% increase from the previous year. Meanwhile, like-for-like sales, which exclude the effects of openings and closures, rose by 5.1%.
This growth was fueled by rising bar and food sales, although hotel room revenues fell by nearly 12% after the company withdrew from UK online booking platforms.

The rollout of new venues began in October, with the next scheduled opening set for early December. New pubs include The New Moor Farm in Cramlington, Tyne and Wear, opening on 5 November. Following that, The Hollybush Seam on Westerleigh Road, Bristol will open on 3 December, The Red Anchor in Stockton-on-Tees (a Papas Group franchise) on 10 December, Coombe Lodge on 17 December, and The Angel Inn in Wetherby on 23 December.
Ahead of the festive season, Wetherspoons emphasized its commitment to growth: “Wetherspoon is opening new pubs across the UK and continues to seek further sites. Inspired by local history, each pub features a unique design, character, and personality.”
The pub chain is widely recognized for transforming old, often derelict buildings into vibrant, beautifully designed venues, having won multiple design awards.
Chairman Sir Tim Martin highlighted recent sales trends, noting a resurgence in traditional drinks: “Real ale has made a comeback, with volumes challenging pre-pandemic levels. Wine, which had been slow, is now at a record high.”
By the end of the financial year, Wetherspoon operated 794 pubs and has plans to open 15 managed sites and 15 franchised locations in the coming year.
