West Midlands Pub The Mount Saved After Glynn Purnell’s Departure

The Mount, a well-known pub in Henley-in-Arden, West Midlands, was set to close its doors on March 15 following the departure of renowned chef Glynn Purnell. However, the historic venue has been saved by the owners of nearby The Bulls Head in Wootton Wawen, ensuring The Mount’s legacy continues.

In a statement, a spokesperson cited rising operating costs as making continued operation unsustainable. But Martin and Omm Peel, owners of The Bulls Head, announced they will take over The Mount and breathe new life into the cherished establishment.

On social media, The Bulls Head shared their excitement about reopening The Mount, calling it “the most amazing pub, restaurant & garden venue Henley has to offer.” They praised the meticulous restoration and furnishing that highlight The Mount’s charm in Henley’s historic High Street conservation area.

The Peels reassured patrons that The Bulls Head itself will remain open and operating as usual. They described both venues as family-run enterprises they are proud of and hinted at exciting future plans to enhance the experience at both pubs.

The community can look forward to The Mount reopening soon, preserved by passionate local ownership and a commitment to maintaining its place at the heart of Henley-in-Arden.
