Wednesbury Woman Battling Stage Four Breast Cancer Faces Unfurnished New Home and Financial Struggles

Nicki Titley, a 45-year-old woman from Wednesbury, is enduring severe hardships while fighting stage four secondary breast cancer. After ending a 20-year relationship in 2025, Nicki left her former home with only a few clothes and has since faced significant challenges securing stable accommodation.

Following nine weeks staying with a friend, Nicki moved into temporary housing but is soon transitioning to a social housing flat in Pelsall. Unfortunately, the flat is unfurnished, and with limited financial resources, she will be sleeping on a borrowed airbed.

In addition to her cancer diagnosis in 2021, Nicki also manages type 2 diabetes, fibromyalgia, and hip dysplasia. She currently receives treatment at the Goscote Palliative Care Centre in Walsall. Nicki shared, “It started as a lump in my breast, but by the time it was caught, it had spread to my bones. I spend so much time at the hospital, I know the names of all the nurses in the chemo ward.”

Previously a sales administrator and caregiver, Nicki is now unable to work and depends on Universal Credit. She explained the difficulty in acquiring essential furniture for her new ground-floor home provided by WHG: “I’m going from a furnished bedsit to an unfurnished flat with no bed or anything. My mom and dad are going to lend me an airbed. I don’t like asking for help, but I can’t see any other way.”

To help her rebuild, Nicki has started a GoFundMe campaign aiming to raise £1,300 for necessary furniture and supplies. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to anyone who donates, emphasizing that “every little bit helps.”
