Warwick University Responds After Arthur Vick 1 Residence Block Fire

On the evening of Wednesday, November 19, a fire broke out in the Arthur Vick 1 halls of residence at the University of Warwick, leading to a significant emergency response and the evacuation of students from the building. Multiple fire crews rushed to the scene as flames consumed the accommodation block.

Video footage shared on social media showed the building ablaze while students gathered outside, watching the incident unfold with concern. West Midlands Fire Service confirmed that eight fire crews were deployed to tackle the blaze in the Canley area of Coventry.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. The university quickly extinguished the fire and issued a statement reassuring students and their families. Efforts are underway to assist those affected by the fire in finding temporary housing arrangements.

A university spokesperson said, “Emergency services were called to a fire on campus at the Arthur Vick 1 residence block. The fire is now out. All students have been safely evacuated, and no injuries have been reported. We are supporting affected students in securing emergency accommodation and providing wellbeing services to assist during this time. There will also be an ongoing security presence to ensure student safety.”

West Midlands Fire Service urged the public to avoid the area to facilitate emergency operations.

The university continues to work closely with emergency services and support teams to manage the situation and ensure the welfare of all students impacted by this event.
