Warning Issued Ahead of ‘World’s Largest’ St George’s Day Parade in Solihull

Motorists are being warned of significant delays ahead of the annual St George’s Day Parade in Shirley, Solihull, which claims to be the ‘world’s largest’. Since its inception in 2004, this patriotic event has grown into a major attraction, drawing thousands of participants and spectators each year.

The parade will kick off at 5pm on Sunday, April 26, starting from Notcutts Garden Centre on Stratford Road. Participants will travel down Stratford Road, passing the iconic ‘Poppy Island’, before looping back up the same route. The procession will then head along the A3400, concluding in Henley-in-Arden around 8pm.

With streets expected to be filled with cars, bikes, vans, and waves of flags, organizers caution that long delays are likely, particularly along Stratford Road and throughout Shirley between approximately 5.45pm and 7.30pm. Residents and commuters are advised to seek alternative routes if they are not taking part in the festivities.
