Birmingham and the Black Country experienced a harrowing day of violence this week, marked by a series of serious incidents leaving two teenagers critically injured. On Wednesday, July 1, a 16-year-old boy was shot on a street corner in Alum Rock shortly before 5:30 pm. Emergency services rushed him to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Just minutes later, around 5:40 pm, a man was stabbed outside a row of shops in Bartley Green. Although his injuries were deemed serious, they were not believed to be life-threatening.
The violence continued the next day when, on Thursday, July 2, at around 12:15 pm, a 19-year-old was stabbed in Oldbury town center. This incident, involving a confrontation between groups of teenagers, also left the victim fighting for his life.

These recent violent episodes follow a troubling pattern of attacks throughout June. Notably, on June 11, two men were stabbed near Birmingham’s main library in Centenary Square. One sustained potentially life-threatening wounds, while the other suffered injuries to his hand.
Authorities have since closed off roads near the three major crime scenes as investigations continue. The community remains shaken amid calls for increased measures to curb violence in the region.
