Vinted Links UK and US Markets with New Mandatory Cross-Border Rule

Vinted has announced a significant update that will directly impact both buyers and sellers on its platform. Starting December 3, Vinted will connect its UK and US marketplaces, allowing users to buy and sell items across these countries seamlessly. This expansion offers an enhanced shopping experience with an increased variety of items including clothing, gadgets, homeware, toys, and footwear.

A Vinted spokesperson shared with The Sun: “From this week, we are enabling transactions between our UK and US members. This exciting move will diversify the product selection for buyers and create more selling opportunities for our community.”

This connectivity is being rolled out gradually, and the company plans to extend this cross-border feature even further over time. Importantly, Vinted users will not be able to opt out of this integration or filter out international listings, meaning access to both domestic and international items is compulsory for affected users.

Despite this mandatory change, Vinted reassures buyers that they retain control over their trading decisions. Before making any offer or purchase, users can check the seller’s country and reviews by visiting their profile. Currency conversion is handled automatically: buyers pay in their local currency, while sellers receive payments in theirs. The exchange rate shown at checkout is fixed once payment is made via Vinted’s payment service provider.

Additionally, there is a package weight limit of 2 kilograms for items shipped between the UK and US.

With this update, Vinted aims to connect more buyers with a broader, more unique inventory, enhancing the community’s selling and shopping experiences on a transatlantic scale.
