Vernon Kay Calls Tess Daly’s Strictly Colleagues ‘Two-Faced’ Over Wardrobe Gossip

TV and radio presenter Vernon Kay has playfully accused his wife Tess Daly’s Strictly Come Dancing colleagues of being “two-faced” after discovering they had been gossiping about his wardrobe.

During his BBC Radio 2 show last week, Vernon, 51, recounted how he faced laughter and criticism for his choice of baggy jeans when he visited the Strictly studios to support Tess, who, along with co-host Claudia Winkleman, is set to leave the show at the end of this year.

Despite the teasing, Vernon proudly continues to wear the controversial jeans, which his Radio 2 listeners have rallied behind. On Tuesday’s programme, he read out a message from a listener jokingly asking to borrow his trousers to see Madness live.

Responding on air, Vernon revealed that while many people appreciate his style, some of Tess’s Strictly colleagues were less enthusiastic. He said, “Everyone I bump into thinks they’re a vibe, but when I visited Strictly in my baggy jeans, I heard behind my back, ‘Oh, why is he wearing those?’”

Vernon expressed his frustration at the behind-the-back comments, stating, “How dare you? How dare you be two-faced? If you don’t like them, say it to my face! I’m a grown man — I’ll go back to the car, wind my windows up and maybe even cry. But I can take it because I like these jeans.”

Standing firm on his choice, Vernon explained the practical reason for the baggy fit: “The trousers have a 34/36 inch leg, perfect for my height.” He previously described the relaxed fit as similar to an “80s pair of women’s culottes,” appreciating their comfort and airy feel.
