US Embassy in Riyadh Targeted in Drone Strikes Amid Urgent Shelter-in-Place Warning

The US Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was struck by at least two drone strikes on the evening of March 2, resulting in minor structural damage and a fire. The Saudi Defense Ministry has confirmed the attacks, which initially sparked multiple explosions witnessed by those nearby.

In response to the threat, the US Embassy issued an urgent shelter-in-place alert for American citizens in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dhahran, and surrounding regions. The statement emphasized limiting non-essential travel to military installations and urged all Americans to stay indoors until further notice. The embassy continues to closely monitor the situation.

Official sources report that the consulate building was empty at the time of the strikes, minimizing the risk of casualties. However, a third drone is reportedly on its way to the embassy, escalating concerns about further attacks.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Jordan has been evacuated as a precautionary measure, reflecting the heightened security concerns across the region. US Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs Mora Namdar advised Americans in several Middle Eastern countries—including Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Israel—to depart immediately using available commercial transportation.

Former President Donald Trump weighed in, forecasting that US military operations in the area may continue for four to five weeks or longer. He reaffirmed the commitment of US forces to neutralize Iran’s missile capabilities, naval power, and nuclear ambitions, as well as to counteract allied militant groups such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which recently launched missiles toward Israel, triggering retaliatory airstrikes.

“This was our last, best chance to strike, what we’re doing right now, and eliminate the intolerable threats posed by this sick and sinister regime,” Trump declared.

As tensions rise, American citizens in the region are urged to remain vigilant, adhere to the guidance of local authorities, and stay informed through official channels.
