Urgent Reminder for State Pensioners: £300 Winter Fuel Payment Missing from Accounts Tomorrow

State pensioners across the UK are being urged to check their bank accounts as a deadline approaches to claim their Winter Fuel Payment. Retirees expecting this essential annual benefit—designed to help with heating costs—should act immediately if the payment hasn’t appeared, as the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has set January 28, 2026, as the final day to raise concerns about missing funds.

Most recipients should have received their payments automatically during November or December 2025. The Winter Fuel Payment is a one-off, tax-free sum of between £100 and £300, depending on individual circumstances such as age and household composition. It is paid to households with someone over the State Pension age of 66.

If you believe you qualify but have not yet received your payment, contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre at 0800 731 0160 or reach out to your local DWP office promptly to query any missing funds.

It’s important to note that if your annual income exceeds £35,000, HM Revenue and Customs will require repayment of the full amount after it has been paid.

Additionally, the payment does not affect your entitlement to other benefits, as it is not counted as income. If you have previously opted out but wish to receive the payment, you must contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre before March 31, 2026.

Please be aware that residents outside England, Wales, and Northern Ireland are not eligible for this payment.

Don’t miss out on this valuable support – check your bank account today and act before the deadline.
