Urgent Recall of Nail Varnish Remover Due to Cancer-Linked Toxic Chemicals

Morovan has issued an urgent recall on approximately 4,000 units of its Gel Nail Polish Remover sold via Amazon after tests revealed the presence of hazardous chemicals methylene chloride and chloroform. Both substances are prohibited in cosmetic products due to their association with serious health risks, including cancer.

Methylene chloride, in particular, is banned under FDA regulations because of its carcinogenic potential and other harmful effects. The recalled nail polish remover, packaged in 0.5 fluid ounce (15 milliliter) square bottles, was sold between August 2025 and January 2026.

While no injuries have been reported to date, consumers who purchased this product are strongly advised to immediately discontinue use, safely dispose of any remaining product, and follow Morovan’s refund instructions.

To ensure consumer safety and regulatory compliance, the company requests that users mark the product as recalled, place it in household waste following local disposal guidelines, and photograph the discarded item displaying the “recalled” label. This image should then be emailed to [email protected] to verify eligibility for a refund.

The recalled bottles were manufactured in February 2024 and bear an expiration date through February 2027. The FDA has published the recall notice to inform the public and prevent further risk.

This recall highlights ongoing scrutiny of cosmetic ingredient safety and the importance of regulatory vigilance to protect consumers from harmful toxins.
