Upcoming Restaurants Set to Transform Birmingham City Centre Before 2025 Ends

As 2024 draws to a close, Birmingham’s dining scene shows no signs of slowing down. Over the past eleven months, the city has welcomed exciting new eateries including fan favorites like Dave’s Hot Chicken and Popeyes. At the same time, more refined venues such as Cylla and Regina’s Bar and Restaurant have elevated the city’s culinary offerings.

Looking ahead, several highly anticipated food and drink establishments are preparing to open their doors before the New Year, promising everything from specialty coffee and authentic ramen to plant-based delights and fine dining experiences that could potentially bring another Michelin Star to Birmingham.

One of the most eagerly awaited openings is Black Sheep Coffee, set to launch its new branch in Grand Central this month. Already popular at the Mailbox, this new location will occupy the space previously held by Costa, which closed in September. This addition is a welcome boost for a Grand Central Shopping Centre that has faced several closures during its tenth year.

Also arriving soon in Grand Central is Tonkotsu, taking over the former Giraffe spot in the food court. Known for its exceptional ramen, Tonkotsu’s new standalone outlet—following the recent launch of Pizza Pilgrims—will undoubtedly enhance this stretch of the shopping centre. Expect it to be fully operational before Christmas.

On Fleet Street, November will see the opening of OMNOM, an innovative Indian vegan restaurant with seating for 150 guests. Unique to Birmingham, this establishment will also serve as a yoga and meditation studio, enriching both the plant-based dining scene and wellness offerings in the city.

Perhaps the most anticipated restaurant set to debut in 2025 is the collaboration between acclaimed chefs Glynn Purnell and Phil Innes of Loki Wine. Located in Snow Hill where North once stood, this new venue promises a spectacular culinary experience, further elevated by Rob Palmer, the celebrated chef behind Toffs. Scheduled to open on December 10, it’s already capturing the attention of Michelin inspectors and food lovers alike.

With these exciting developments, Birmingham’s city centre dining landscape is poised for an impressive transformation as the year ends, offering locals and visitors a diverse range of new flavors and experiences to savor.
