UK Snow Bomb Expands to 330 Miles Wide as Flurries Set to Begin at 3 PM

The much-anticipated UK snow bomb has dramatically expanded to cover an impressive 330 miles, threatening widespread snowfall across large parts of the nation on December 5. Among the hardest-hit regions will be Wales, particularly northern areas such as Aberystwyth, with snow starting around 3 PM and intensifying through the early evening.

Arctic air moving in from mid-afternoon will bring significant snow accumulation, with northern Wales expected to receive up to five inches. Meanwhile, Scotland, including areas around Aviemore, could see about one inch of snow by 6 PM. According to weather data from WX Charts and Met Desk, this extensive snow front will stretch from north Wales into Scottish Highlands.

Looking ahead, the Met Office forecast for December 6 and beyond outlines continued unsettled weather conditions. Showers and periods of rain will affect much of the UK, with potential for locally heavy rainfall especially on hilly terrain exposed to strong southerly winds. Bright spells may appear between showers, some of which could be heavy and accompanied by thunder.

Temperatures are expected to hover around average but will feel chilly due to the wet and windy weather. Despite these conditions, widespread frost or fog is unlikely during this unsettled period. The extended outlook suggests additional rain, possibly heavy, moving across many regions by Monday.
