UK Rapper Ghetts Faces Additional Charges Over Alleged Hit-and-Run Death

UK grime artist Ghetts, born Justin Clarke-Samuel, now faces additional criminal charges related to a tragic hit-and-run incident. Previously charged with causing the death of 20-year-old Yubin Tamang by dangerous driving, Clarke-Samuel is accused of further dangerous driving offenses occurring before and after the fatal collision.

The crash took place on Redbridge Lane, Ilford, north-east London, at approximately 11:33 p.m. on October 18. It is alleged that Ghetts failed to stop after his BMW struck Mr. Tamang, who was studying in the UK as an only child sent by his parents from Nepal. Following the collision, Clarke-Samuel is accused of continuing to drive recklessly through Worcester Crescent, Redbridge, during his journey home.

On November 24, Clarke-Samuel appeared via videolink from Pentonville Prison at the Old Bailey court. Wearing a plain grey T-shirt, he confirmed his identity in the presence of Mr. Tamang’s family, who had traveled from Nepal to attend the hearing. Judge Nigel Lickley KC adjourned the case, setting the next hearing for December 8 when Clarke-Samuel will enter pleas to the charges. He remains in custody pending further proceedings.
