After serving the Chelmsford community for half a century, Krafft Jewellers has announced it will close its long-standing city centre store on Duke Street by March 31. The decision marks a significant loss for local shoppers and highlights the ongoing challenges faced by high street retailers.
In a heartfelt message shared on Facebook, “Danny & Team” explained that the rise of online shopping, combined with increasing operating costs, has severely impacted many high street businesses, including their own. “The trading climate has become much harder over the past few years,” they stated.
Expressing gratitude to their loyal customers, the team said, “Without you, we would not have survived as long as we have. I am most grateful to you all.” The closure has drawn an outpouring of support from the community, with many expressing sadness and reminiscing about their positive experiences at the jewellers.
