Hundreds of UK households can now benefit from free supermarket vouchers worth £300 as part of ongoing cost of living support programs. This aid comes through the Household Support Fund, a government initiative that allocates money to local authorities to assist vulnerable families.
Surrey County Council is currently accepting applications for its Everyday Essentials E-Voucher scheme. Residents struggling to afford food and necessities can apply for vouchers redeemable at popular supermarkets including Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, The Food Warehouse, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose.
To qualify, applicants must be over 18, live in Surrey, have household savings averaging £2,000 or less over a 90-day period, and an annual household income below £27,007.50 before taxes and deductions. Applicants will need to provide details of their income and benefits.

Applications open monthly, with the current round beginning February 3. If missed, applications will reopen on March 2. Residents outside Surrey should check with their local councils for available assistance programs.
For example, Nottingham City Council is distributing £100 vouchers to low-income residents or those on benefits, with 10,000 vouchers awarded randomly rather than on a first-come, first-served basis. Similarly, Wakefield Council is issuing food vouchers to households on low income receiving council tax support, including £70 vouchers for pensioners and additional support for families.
Blackpool Council offers energy assistance through vouchers worth £200 for households of one or two people, and £300 for households of three or more. Eligibility requires evidence of financial hardship, including recent bank statements for all household members.
These initiatives represent vital support for many UK families as they navigate financial challenges amid rising living costs.
