UK households not receiving Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefits or Universal Credit are now eligible for new £300 Cost of Living payments. Blackpool Council is among the local authorities distributing significant financial support through the Household Support Fund.
Applicants do not need to be on Universal Credit or other DWP benefits to qualify for this fund, though those who do receive benefits can also apply.
In Blackpool, the Household Support Fund provides short-term financial assistance aimed at helping residents manage essential household energy or water bills. Eligible households of one or two people (including children) can receive £200, while households of three or more (including children) may receive £300.

Payments will be made directly to energy providers or United Utilities, appearing as credits on bills or pre-payment meters.
The scheme is exclusively available to Blackpool residents. All household members must permanently reside at the supply address, and children must have child benefit payments registered at that address.
To apply, individuals must be over 16, responsible for paying utility bills, and residents of Blackpool Council’s jurisdiction. Applicants should be experiencing financial hardship and needing immediate support to cover essential costs.
Due to limited funds, only one award can be made per household within a 12-month period. Applicants must provide a full month’s bank, building society, or savings account statements for all adults in the household. These statements must show all transactions to verify eligibility and financial need.
