UK households eligible for the Warm Home Discount risk missing out on a £150 energy bill rebate if they do not take action by February 27. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) has issued a clear deadline for those who must contact the helpline to secure their discount.
While 96% of recipients in England and Wales will receive their rebate automatically this winter (2025/2026), a small number of households need to call the dedicated helpline at 0800 030 9322 to confirm their eligibility. This number was included in letters sent to qualifying homes.
Those who believe they are eligible but have not received a letter or the discount are urged to contact the helpline before the February 27 deadline to ensure they receive the support.

The Warm Home Discount scheme, introduced by a Labour government, provides an annual £150 credit towards energy costs for eligible households. In 2024, over 6 million households across England, Scotland, and Wales qualify — an increase of 2.7 million from previous years.
Typically, the discount is applied to electricity bills. However, some suppliers allow customers to apply the £150 to their gas bill if they provide both gas and electricity. Customers should check with their energy supplier to confirm if this option is available.
Money Saving Expert, led by financial expert Martin Lewis, cautions against scams related to the discount. They advise recipients to only respond to the official letter from the government. Any emails, calls, or texts requesting personal information are likely fraudulent. If there is any doubt about the authenticity of communications, consumers should call the official helpline to verify.
