This intense snowfall is expected to strike on January 27 and linger into January 28 and 29 as Atlantic weather systems move across the country.

England will see considerable snow accumulation, with some regions experiencing up to 23 centimeters. More extreme conditions are predicted in Scotland, where certain areas could be buried under up to 64 centimeters of snow.

The affected English counties cover a wide area, including Northumberland, Durham, Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, and Derbyshire. The Met Office’s forecast for Friday, January 23, highlights cloudy skies with showers and occasional hill snow in Scotland. It warns of windy conditions and coastal gales developing, with bands of rain moving across much of the country.

By Saturday, January 24, rain and hill snow across the northeast are expected to ease, but showers and longer rain spells will persist, especially in the southwest, accompanied by windy conditions and coastal gales.

From Sunday to Tuesday, the weather will remain unsettled, with rain bands spreading north and east. Temperatures are predicted to drop, increasing the likelihood of snow, particularly over northern hills.

According to the BBC, windy conditions will dominate the south and far north, with widespread cloud cover and spells of rain. However, central and southern areas may experience some brightness, while the northeast is expected to remain wet, with hill snow persisting.

Residents across threatened areas are advised to prepare for potentially severe winter weather and take precautions against travel disruptions and hazardous conditions.
