Two Men Charged with Murder Following the Death of 20-Year-Old Jamie Evans

Two men have been charged with murder in connection with the tragic death of Jamie Evans in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Staffordshire Police were called to Orme Road shortly after 5pm on Friday, 4 September, following a report from West Midlands Ambulance Service concerning a collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a parked Audi.

Jamie Evans, 20, from Stone, was the driver of the Ford Fiesta and was found with a serious injury consistent with a stab wound. It is believed that he sustained the wound on Orme Road before entering the vehicle.

Corey Hughes, 20, of Newcastle-under-Lyme, has been charged with murder and possession of a knife in a public place. Likewise, Connor Edward Cartlidge, 22, also from Newcastle-under-Lyme, faces the same charges.

Additionally, a 19-year-old man from Newcastle-under-Lyme was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder but has since been released on conditional bail as enquiries continue.

Jamie Evans was pronounced dead following the incident.

Both Hughes and Cartlidge remain in police custody and are scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre on Tuesday, 8 September.
