Travelodge is stepping in to help parents preserve the magic of Christmas by offering dedicated Christmas present wrapping rooms. Launching on December 10, these special rooms will give parents and guardians a private, stress-free space to wrap holiday gifts without the fear of little ones discovering their secrets.
Recent research reveals that over half of adults (52%) wish they had more privacy when wrapping presents. Additionally, 40% of parents worry their children might uncover the surprise before Christmas Day. The study also found that 36% of Brits have accidentally spoiled their own gift surprises by walking in at the wrong moment, and 20% have felt discouraged from wrapping further presents after such mishaps.
In response, Travelodge will open ‘wrapping rooms’ at three locations: London Chiswick High Road, Manchester Piccadilly, and Edinburgh Central. These rooms will be available for free 75-minute bookings and come fully stocked with festive wrapping paper, tape, and embellishments. Guests can also enjoy holiday decorations, refreshments, and a mince pie, creating a true Christmas atmosphere while they prepare their gifts.

This initiative follows a viral social media post of a mum renting a hotel room solely to wrap gifts in peace, which struck a chord with parents everywhere. The post sparked comments like “Mum goals,” “Book me in!” and “This right here is how it should be done!!!”
The research also showed that over a quarter of Brits (26%) would consider booking a hotel room for additional privacy when wrapping gifts, while others choose alternative spots such as shop counters (12%), friends’ houses (12%), or even their cars (7%). Notably, December 20 was identified as the most popular day for wrapping gifts, with 11% leaving it until Christmas Eve.
Many feel strongly about maintaining the surprise: nearly one-third (33%) said having gifts discovered ruins the magic, and more than half (57%) believe it spoils the festive surprise altogether. Parents often have to get creative about hiding spots, with 41% finding new places every year and 16% admitting their child uncovered the truth about Santa Claus after catching them in the act.
A Travelodge spokesperson said, “We want to preserve the magic of Christmas and make the festive build-up as stress-free as possible. When we learned that many people already consider a hotel room the ideal wrapping spot, we knew we had to help. Wrapping gifts should be a relaxing and joyful experience, free from interruptions. This Christmas, whether you book one of our free wrapping rooms or stay overnight, Travelodge has you covered to keep your holiday secrets safe.”
