Joe & The Juice’s Solihull store, located inside Touchwood shopping centre, has been handed a zero hygiene rating following an inspection on October 15 last year. This rating, issued by the Food Standards Agency, indicates urgent improvements are necessary and stands as the lowest possible score.
With over 80 outlets across the UK, the Solihull location is currently the only Joe & The Juice shop to receive such a failing hygiene score. Another store in London was rated a ‘2,’ indicating some improvement is needed. In contrast, the Grand Central Birmingham branch holds a ‘3’ rating, considered generally satisfactory.
Hygiene ratings take into account cleanliness of facilities, food handling practices, and safety standards. A score below 3 is deemed a fail by the Food Standards Agency.

Joe & The Juice offers a menu featuring smoothies, juices, sandwiches, and breakfast bowls, making hygiene a key priority for customer safety.
In response, a company spokesperson stated, “At Joe & The Juice, food safety and hygiene standards are taken extremely seriously. The issues identified during the inspection in Solihull have since been addressed, the store is now fully compliant, and we are working closely with the local Environmental Health Officer. We remain confident in the standards of this store and across our UK estate.”
