A Birmingham man, Daniel Byrne, has been on the run for more than three years after failing to appear in court for a serious assault charge. Byrne, from Yardley, disappeared shortly after being charged, and his whereabouts remain unknown despite ongoing police efforts to locate him.
In February 2023, West Midlands Police launched an appeal to help trace Byrne, whose image remains prominently displayed on the force’s most wanted list. His mugshot has been viewed nearly 55,000 times on the police website, underscoring the continued public interest in his capture.
Now aged around 39 or 40, Byrne is suspected of having gone to ground somewhere in the UK or potentially fled abroad. Authorities believe he may have attempted to alter his appearance to avoid detection, leaving the victim of the alleged assault without closure or justice.

West Midlands Police continue to urge anyone with information about Byrne’s location to come forward. They emphasize that even the smallest detail could be crucial in bringing him to justice.
