Thousands Raised to Support Children Following Death of Dedicated Midland Police Officer

Thousands of pounds have been raised to support the children of Jim Dinan, a Midland police officer remembered as a devoted father and colleague. Mr Dinan tragically died on 8 August at the age of 50, having served more than 20 years in the police force.

He leaves behind his wife and two teenage children, aged 18 and 13. A GoFundMe page has been established to provide financial assistance to the family during this difficult time.

Chris James, secretary of the West Midlands Police Federation and a former team member of Mr Dinan, paid tribute, saying: “Jim dedicated his life to serving others, carrying out his duties with courage, humility, and unwavering professionalism.”

“He was highly respected by colleagues and valued by the communities he served. Jim was the type of officer who could always be relied upon, offering support, guidance, and encouragement whenever needed. I witnessed firsthand the qualities that made him so well regarded.”

“Known for his generosity with time and willingness to assist colleagues, he also had a great sense of humour that could brighten even the most challenging days. His friendship, camaraderie, and quiet support were deeply appreciated by many and he will be greatly missed.”

“Above all, Jim was devoted to his family, who were the centre of his world. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his wife and children at this profoundly difficult time.”

Mr James added: “Those who knew Jim will remember not only his dedication to policing but also his warmth, kindness, and capability to make others feel valued. He embodied the finest qualities of a police officer and touched the lives of countless individuals throughout his career.”

“While words cannot lessen the grief of this loss, we draw comfort from the memories of a man who lived in service to others and whose legacy will endure through the many lives he influenced. Jim will be remembered with great affection, respect, and gratitude. He will never be forgotten.”

The police federation concluded with a heartfelt message: “Rest in peace, Jim. Your service, friendship, and dedication will always be remembered.”

Those wishing to support the family can donate to the fundraiser via the GoFundMe page.
