The Midlands’ Best Kept Secret: Little Land of Play Wins Top Award and Expands

Hidden away in Cannock, Little Land of Play has quietly become the Midlands’ premier soft play café — and it’s just been crowned the best children’s business in the region at the prestigious Muddy Stilettos 2026 awards.

Since opening two years ago, this pastel-hued haven has captured the hearts of families with its unique star-filled pit featuring an incredible 9,600 stars. The play centre also offers a sensory zone complete with a giant busy board, a versatile play frame, Montessori toys, and immersive role play areas — all designed to engage and inspire young minds.

Parents aren’t left out either. The open-plan café space allows grown-ups to relax with freshly baked treats and expertly brewed barista coffee, all while keeping a watchful eye on their little ones at play.

The excitement continues as Little Land of Play prepares to move a short distance down the road to a spacious new site on Smalley Close. This larger venue will introduce a giant indoor Dino Dig sandpit for aspiring paleontologists, expanded outdoor play areas, and new equipment specially tailored for younger visitors.

Owner Hannah Firmstone, a devoted mum and local entrepreneur offering bouncy castle hire, expressed her gratitude: “Winning this award at such a milestone — our second anniversary as a play café and fifth year of hire services — means the world to us. We’ve treasured every moment celebrating first words, steps, birthdays, and more with the families who walk through our doors.

“What started as a simple play café has blossomed into a warm community and extended family. We’re thrilled for all the adventures that lie ahead at our new location.”

Little Land of Play’s heartfelt approach has earned glowing reviews from parents. One mother shared, “This place feels like home — the staff know our children’s names and genuinely care. It’s been a lifeline for my sons with disabilities, providing a safe and welcoming environment we’ve struggled to find elsewhere.”

Another parent praised the thoughtful management of sessions, saying, “Our daughter adores coming here. It’s bright, spotless, and never overcrowded. The team is friendly, and the food and drinks for both kids and adults are top-notch. It’s definitely our favourite go-to spot!”

Little Land of Play outshone finalists including The Wave in Coventry, The Strings Club in Leamington Spa, Mucking About in Stratford-upon-Avon, Blissful Beginnings in Cannock, and the Enchanted Tea Room in Leamington Spa.

The new venue is located at Smalley Close, Cannock WS11 5TY, approximately a 35-minute drive from Birmingham via the M6, depending on traffic. To ensure a spot, advance booking is highly recommended through the Little Land of Play website.
