The Masked Singer delivered a huge surprise as its second contestant was unmasked, shocking fans nationwide. The show kicked off Sunday night with six new celebrities battling to keep their identities secret inside quirky and elaborate costumes.
Contestants Conkers, Arctic Fox, Toastie, Monkey Business, Teabag, and Yak each performed for the first time in front of the star-studded panel—Davina McCall, Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan, and Jonathan Ross.
The competition took a dramatic turn when Teabag landed in the bottom two alongside Yak. The panel saved Yak, ending the journey for Teabag. The host, Joel Dommett, then revealed the identity behind the costume—it was rapper Professor Green, whose real name is Stephen Paul Manderson.

Judge Maya Jama admitted she should have guessed since she is a close friend of Stephen’s and had spoken to him just days before the show. Stephen shared his experience, saying, “It was nice being able to hide behind a mask and be silly.” Though nervous at first, he was thrilled to have avoided detection from the judges.
Fans took to social media to express their shock and disbelief. One user wrote, “I love a good ‘YOU WHAT?!?’ reveal. Like, what do you mean Professor Green was Teabag?” Another exclaimed, “PROFESSOR GREEN WTF,” while many admitted they never would have guessed the rapper under the mask.
Some viewers expressed sadness over his elimination. One tweeted, “I used to be a big fan of him but never would’ve guessed him in a million years!! Sad he’s out now. #MaskedSingerUK.” Others begged for his return, saying, “Bring him back for All Stars, I don’t care.”
In the show’s first episode, The One Show star Alex Jones was unmasked as Disc Jockey after impressing with her rendition of Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club.” Following her reveal, Alex shared, “I’ve had a lot of fun. We love this programme as a family, and I thought it would be wonderful to do it for my children. It’s the most bizarre experience of my life! Thank you.”
