The Godfather Star Robert Duvall Dies at 95, Wife Luciana Mourns ‘Her Everything’

Robert Duvall, the legendary actor renowned for his unforgettable performances in films like The Godfather, has died peacefully at the age of 95. His wife, Luciana, revealed the news on February 16, confirming that he passed away at their Virginia home on February 15.

In a touching Facebook post, Luciana wrote: “Yesterday we said goodbye to my beloved husband, cherished friend, and one of the greatest actors of our time. Bob passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort. To the world, he was an Academy Award-winning actor, a director, a storyteller. To me, he was simply everything.”

She reflected on Robert’s passion for acting and life, saying, “His passion for his craft was matched only by his deep love for characters, a great meal, and holding court. For each of his many roles, Bob gave everything to his characters and to the truth of the human spirit they represented. In doing so, he leaves something lasting and unforgettable to us all.”

Robert and Luciana shared 21 years of marriage. Fans and fellow actors alike have expressed their sorrow and admiration following the actor’s passing. One fan remembered, “He was one hell of an actor. One of his best roles was Boss Spearman in Open Range.” Another called him “a true original,” while many hailed him as “one of the all-time greats.”

Throughout his extensive seven-decade career, Duvall earned a remarkable list of accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Tender Mercies (1983). He also received a BAFTA Award, four Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Notably, he was recognized for his leading role in the AMC limited series Broken Trail.

His Oscar nominations spanned outstanding films such as The Godfather (1972), Apocalypse Now (1979), The Great Santini (1979), The Apostle (1997), A Civil Action (1998), and The Judge (2014), cementing his legacy as one of Hollywood’s finest talents.
