The Fort Shopping Park is inviting everyone to a special free family day celebrating VE Day on Saturday, May 9th, from 1 to 4 pm. Located just off the M6 in Erdington, this event promises a delightful afternoon filled with entertainment for all ages.
Families can look forward to free face painting (available on a first-come, first-served basis), live 1940s-style music, and interactive walkabout entertainment featuring Land Girls, bringing the spirit of VE Day to life.
A spokesperson for The Fort said, “This is a family day out you won’t want to miss. We’re celebrating VE Day with fun, laughter, and memories—all completely free. There’s no need to book, just come along and enjoy.”

Attendees are encouraged to arrive early as face painting queues may close ahead of the 4 pm finish once the capacity is reached. Conveniently, parking at The Fort is free, making it easy for families to attend.
Additionally, the local community can look forward to the opening of Hive in the Park—a new community café run by Birmingham Hospice. Launching on Friday, May 1st, at Rookery House in Rookery Park, the café will offer good value food and drinks.
This family-friendly day at The Fort is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy live entertainment, make new memories, and experience the local community spirit.
