The council emphasizes that “virtually all roads” in Birmingham will revert to 30mph limits to create safer conditions for motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

Authorities also caution that enforcement efforts, including targeted speed operations by police, will accompany the changes to encourage adherence and deter speeding.

These measures are part of the council’s Road Harm Reduction strategy, spearheaded by Cllr Majid Mahmood, who states: “Together we must do whatever it takes to make roads safer for everyone. We are also collaborating with police to introduce six new average speed camera sites across the city.”
