Tesco Launches 24/7 Royal Mail Locker Trial at Nine UK Stores for Six Months

Tesco has announced a six-month trial introducing 24/7 Royal Mail lockers at nine of its UK stores, aiming to provide shoppers with more flexible options for parcel collection and returns. This new service will operate alongside Tesco’s existing InPost lockers, expanding the convenience available to customers.

The collaboration allows customers to send and receive parcels anytime, thanks to lockers featuring label printing and QR code access. To use the service, shoppers must pay for postage online and obtain a QR code, either through an online purchase or from their returns company.

Jack Clarkson, Managing Director for Out-of-Home & Commercial Excellence at Royal Mail, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, saying, “We are really excited to bring Royal Mail lockers to Tesco stores. This collaboration makes it easier than ever for our customers to collect, send, and return parcels.”

Royal Mail boasts an extensive network with 25,000 locations across the UK for parcel drop-off and collection, including 2,600 lockers, 11,500 Post Office branches, 8,000 Royal Mail Shop outlets, 1,200 Customer Service Points, and 1,400 parcel postboxes. The service covers every address in the country.

A Tesco spokesperson added, “By introducing Royal Mail lockers alongside our existing InPost service, we offer even more convenience for customers during their shopping trips.”

The trial stores include Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Barrow, Burnham-on-Sea, Bury, Cullompton, Horwich, March, Preston, and Salisbury.
