Tesco Delivery Van Damages Resident’s Wall and Drives Off in Birmingham Incident

A Tesco delivery driver caused significant damage to a resident’s wall before driving off without stopping on Garretts Green Lane in Sheldon, Birmingham. The incident, which occurred around 4:30 pm on Thursday, January 8, was captured on doorbell camera footage, revealing the driver reversing onto the driveway and colliding with the wall.

The resident expressed shock and frustration upon discovering the damage the following day. “The impact was loud enough to be heard clearly on the CCTV recording, yet the driver chose to ignore it and leave the scene,” they said. They described the driver’s behavior as “dangerous and unacceptable,” especially coming from an employee of one of the UK’s largest supermarkets.

Efforts to get a meaningful response from Tesco have been unsuccessful. The resident criticized the company for referring only to their customer survey instead of addressing the severity of the incident. The damaged wall now poses a safety risk to children, families, and dog walkers who frequently use the nearby path.

Tesco issued an apology and acknowledged the situation, stating, “Our drivers are trained to take the utmost care during every delivery. We are already in direct contact with the resident and are working with him to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.”
