Teenager Arrested in Connection with Fatal Stabbing of Zeshan Afzal Outside Smethwick Mosque

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of 18-year-old Zeshan Afzal outside a mosque in Smethwick. The tragic event occurred near Jamia Masjid on Oldbury Road at approximately 9pm on Friday, February 20.

Emergency services were called after a disturbance, finding Zeshan with severe stab injuries. He was pronounced dead shortly after the incident. West Midlands Police confirmed the arrest and said the suspect remains in custody for questioning as investigations continue.

Authorities are appealing for witnesses and urging anyone who has not yet come forward to provide information.
