Teenager Arrested Following Attack on Two Men in Leicester Park

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the assault of two men in their 60s in Castle Gardens, Leicester. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, January 18, when paramedics discovered the injured men and alerted police.

According to reports, the men were attacked with a metal pole inside a park hut between midnight and 2 a.m. Both victims were taken to hospital; one remains admitted while the other has since been discharged.

Leicestershire Police apprehended the teenager on Thursday, January 22, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been released on bail as the investigation continues.

Detective Sergeant Vicki Hudson of the complex investigation team urged anyone with information to come forward. “We want to hear from anyone who was near the park during the early hours—did you notice anyone suspicious or see people entering or leaving the area?” she said. “Even small details could prove vital.”

The police were initially contacted by the East Midlands Ambulance Service at 2 a.m. Witnesses are encouraged to call 101 and reference crime number 26*32801 with any information.
