An 18-year-old Birmingham resident has admitted to carrying a bladed article near New Street station, the court heard on Tuesday, 25 August.
Tyler Shelton, from Farren Road, was located by police officers on Navigation Street at around 3am on Sunday, 12 July. He had contacted the police, informing them of his location so that he could be taken back to his care facility. Upon arrival, he informed officers that he was carrying a Stanley knife.
At Birmingham Magistrates' Court, Shelton pleaded guilty to possession of the bladed article. Prosecutor Ms Begum explained that officers attended the location following Shelton’s call, confirming his possession of the knife.

The court heard that Shelton was previously of good character before the incident. Judge Hayles stated he was not prepared to pass sentence immediately and requested that a probation report be prepared to better understand the circumstances surrounding the possession of the knife at 3am.
The case has been adjourned until 6 November for the pre-sentence report. Shelton was released on unconditional bail, with instructions to comply with probation requirements.
