Teen Arrested After Attempted Moped Theft at Industrial Estate

An 18-year-old male has been arrested after an attempted moped theft at Pensnett Trading Estate in Kingswinford, thanks to prompt action from local residents.

West Midlands Police responded to reports of the incident on Thursday morning, December 11, around 11:30 a.m. Upon arrival at Third Avenue, officers found that members of the public had intervened and detained the suspect. During the incident, one bystander was assaulted.

The suspect faces charges of attempted theft of a motor vehicle, assault, and possession of cannabis. He remains in police custody as investigations continue.

A police spokesperson stated, “We were alerted to the attempted theft and quickly arrived at the scene. The community’s swift response was instrumental in detaining the individual involved. We are seeking further information and mobile footage from witnesses to assist with our inquiries.”
