Tamworth Teen, 17, in Coma with Life-Altering Injuries After Falling from Roof

A 17-year-old teenager from Tamworth is in an induced coma after suffering severe injuries from a fall off a roof. On May 7, Josh fell approximately 30 feet while working and landed directly on his back, resulting in multiple critical injuries.

Josh has sustained a fractured skull, fractured spine, and significant brain swelling. As a result, he remains unconscious under medical care in a coma.

Elisabeth Hobbs, a close family friend organizing a fundraiser to support Josh, shared an update on his condition. Speaking to BirminghamLive, she described Josh as a “lovely lad,” nearly 18 years old and deeply connected to his family. She expressed concern over the extent of his injuries, noting that Josh faces the possibility of lifelong challenges, including potential paralysis.

Josh is expected to remain in a coma for several more weeks as doctors prepare for spinal surgery to better understand and treat his injuries. The family is bracing for a difficult recovery, with no clear prognosis on whether he will regain mobility.

“They’ve been advised to prepare for long-term disability, which could be physical, mental, or both,” Hobbs said. “Josh’s mother has always been selfless, and now we want to rally around her and give back.”

Friends and community members have started a fundraiser to support Josh and his family through this challenging time.
