National Highways introduced the ban to address concerns about traffic congestion, excessive noise, poor air quality, and safety in the historic town centre. The restriction applies along the A5 between the Cow Pastures Lane roundabout and the Old Tiffield Road junction. New signage advising drivers of the weight limit has already been installed throughout the area.
