The tragedy occurred in September 2023, when a 54-year-old man was struck and killed on Newton Road, Great Barr. The victim was found unresponsive at the scene and was declared dead shortly after. Following the incident, a BMW 520D believed to have been involved was discovered abandoned nearby, but the driver had fled without a trace.
