The Pint Pot, a well-loved pub located on Tower Road, Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield, has temporarily closed its doors to undergo a significant £183,000 refurbishment in preparation for the upcoming football World Cup in North America. The revamp, funded by Star Pubs, aims to enhance the pub’s appeal as a family-friendly local hub focused on sports, entertainment, and community events.
Closing on March 26, the pub is set to reopen just in time for the May Day Bank Holiday weekend, offering patrons a refreshed interior and state-of-the-art sports facilities. Upgrades include a new halo-lit darts board with electronic scoring, a pool table featuring Wi-Fi-enabled payment options, five new High-Definition TVs, and a cutting-edge AV system showcasing Sky and TNT Sports broadcasts.
Angela Constable, the new pub manager and former NHS senior ward coordinator, along with her husband, John, is excited to revitalize The Pint Pot as a vibrant community centre. Angela, who grew up around pubs, is eager to welcome local groups, sports teams, and charity events, aiming to create a venue that is both family and dog-friendly.

The redesign will introduce an open-plan main bar and lounge, alongside a separate sports room. Inside, customers can expect new ‘poseur’ style tables and stools in the bar, relaxed seating in the lounge, feature wallpaper, upgraded lighting, and enhanced soft furnishings.
Star Pubs’ spokeswoman emphasized the installation of the latest dispense technology, which promises improved quality and energy efficiency for draft beer and cider, helping to keep drinks colder for longer.
Regular entertainment such as quizzes, live sports screenings, darts, pool, weekend live music, and seasonal celebrations will help foster a lively atmosphere. Craig Foweather, Star Pubs investment manager, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the upgraded facilities and inviting environment that will enrich the local community’s experience.
