After just one year, the Last Chance Saloon, an American-style cowboy bar on Bromsgrove High Street near Birmingham, has closed its doors. Owner Lee Rushton launched the bar on October 12 last year with the goal of bringing a true taste of the American South to the Midlands, featuring country music and live sports broadcasts from the States.
Lee even hired a chef with experience cooking in America to enhance the authentic experience. However, despite the passion and effort, the bar struggled to gain the momentum hoped for. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Lee revealed that a lack of wider community support and other challenges led to the difficult decision to close.
“I am sad to announce that Last Chance Saloon has closed its doors for the final time,” he wrote. “After 12 months of trading, the word of our bar hasn’t spread as far as we would have hoped, and we have struggled these last couple of months to the point we can’t continue.”

Lee expressed gratitude to loyal customers and the local community for their support throughout the year. He reflected fondly on the memorable nights of live music and the great connections made. Balancing demanding nights and family life ultimately made continuing untenable, but he left the door open for a possible return in the future.
The Last Chance Saloon will be remembered as a unique venue that brought a slice of American culture to the Midlands, even if its run was brief. Lee’s dedication and vision created a memorable space for those who ventured in, and he thanked everyone from the bottom of his heart for the opportunity.
