Strictly’s Dianne Buswell Shares Hopeful Update as Dad Undergoes Keyhole Surgery

Strictly Come Dancing professional Dianne Buswell has shared encouraging news about her father’s health following recent keyhole surgery. The 36-year-old dancer opened up about the procedure, which revealed no signs of cancer, marking a hopeful milestone in his recovery.

Her father, Mark, was diagnosed with cancer in late 2023, a moment that brought visible emotion to Dianne during the BBC show. After completing chemotherapy in April, he recently underwent minimally invasive surgery to thoroughly examine his body for any lingering cancer cells.

In a heartfelt conversation on her podcast “Winning Isn’t Everything,” co-hosted with her former Strictly partner Chris McCausland, Dianne described the procedure in detail. She explained that surgeons used a camera to explore behind Mark’s organs to ensure there were no remaining cancer margins. Thankfully, the results were positive.

The doctors also removed the chemotherapy port from under his skin near the collarbone, signaling a significant step forward. Dianne shared, “They don’t think he’s going to need it again,” reflecting the optimism surrounding his health.

Despite her initial worry at receiving an early morning call from Mark, Dianne’s concern quickly turned to relief and joy. She recounted how her father, still groggy from anesthesia, humorously rattled off stories to the doctors and nurses, even offering them rides home while sharing her life story.

Showing resilience and good spirits, Mark even pointed out the small scars from his treatment, confirming he was recovering well.

As Dianne prepares to return to Australia to be with her family during the holiday season, this uplifting update offers fans a glimpse of hope amid the challenges faced by her family.
