Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has shared a poignant new photo just one day after undergoing her second mastectomy, offering fans a heartfelt update on her recovery.
The 35-year-old dancer was first diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 and has since been transparent about her health battle, regularly connecting with her supporters.
Amy has undergone intensive treatments including chemotherapy and fertility preservation, alongside her first mastectomy earlier this year. After consulting with her medical team, she recently announced the need for a second mastectomy to continue her recovery.

In a candid post, Amy revealed: “This picture I took the day I came out of hospital, post surgery! Tomorrow marks two weeks since my surgery, and I’m proud of how far I’ve come. Focusing on the little things—gradual improvements in movement and doing more each day. I’m taking it slow, listening to my body, being kind to myself, and celebrating the small wins.”
She encouraged others to stay vigilant about their health, adding, “Please remember to check yourself.”
The message was met with an outpouring of support from celebrity friends and fans alike. Radio 2 host Zoe Ball wrote, “Heal well brave one,” while others shared their own experiences and words of encouragement.
Amy has stepped back from Strictly Come Dancing to focus fully on her recovery, though she remains hopeful about returning to the show next year. Earlier this season, she was partnered with Apprentice star Thomas Skinner, but they were the first couple eliminated after a dance-off.
Through her openness and resilience, Amy continues to inspire many as she navigates this challenging chapter with strength and grace.
