Following a violent incident at The Beeches pub in Birmingham during the England vs Ghana World Cup match, new strict regulations have been put in place to ensure the safety of patrons. On Tuesday, June 23, tensions flared when a fight broke out involving punches and a man brandishing a machete, forcing panic as customers fled the crowded venue. Although no arrests were made, police recovered a knife from the scene.
The pub confirmed that several individuals had bypassed security, gaining unauthorized access to what was meant to be a ticketed event. In response, The Beeches has announced a series of rules to be followed during upcoming matches, including the game against Panama.
Patrons are now required to wear wristbands at all times, adhere to a full search policy on entry, and treat staff with respect. The venue will operate on a bookings-only basis, with no entry allowed without a reservation. Additionally, the pub enforces a ‘Challenge 25’ policy requiring valid photo ID, and no one under 18 will be permitted after 6:00 pm. The venue will close briefly between 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm before reopening for the match.

A one-way system will be implemented inside the pub to facilitate safe movement, and security presence will be increased throughout the event. The Beeches has appealed to visitors to follow all signage and staff instructions to help maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere.
West Midlands Police are continuing to review footage from the incident and are working alongside the venue to identify those responsible. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the police with any information.
