Spain High-Speed Train Collision Claims 21 Lives, Injures Over 100

A devastating high-speed train collision in southern Spain has resulted in at least 21 fatalities and over 100 injuries. The accident occurred near the town of Adamuz in Andalusia, when an Iryo-operated train en route from Málaga to Madrid derailed and collided with another high-speed service traveling from Madrid to Huelva.

The derailment happened at approximately 19:45 local time, causing one train to leave the tracks, cross onto another line, and crash head-on into the opposing train. Spanish media report that around 25 of the injured are in serious condition.

Dramatic footage circulating on social media depicts severely damaged train carriages, with some passengers trapped inside, prompting urgent rescue efforts. Spain’s rail infrastructure manager, ADIF, has suspended all train services between Madrid and Andalusia until further notice to facilitate emergency response and investigations.
