Sort Your Life Out Viewers ‘Cry Buckets’ as ‘Lovely’ Midlands Dads Star in Emotional Episode

In a touching episode of BBC’s Sort Your Life Out, two “lovely” dads from the Midlands, salon owner ‘Big Craig’ and call centre worker ‘Little Craig,’ moved viewers to tears as they transformed their clutter-filled home. Joined by their six-year-old adoptive daughter, El, the family’s three-bedroom semi had become overrun with toys, craft supplies, and household items—leaving them with little room to live or even consider expanding their family further.

The decluttering team, led by Stacey Solomon, Dilly Carter, Rob Bent, and cleaning expert Iwan Carrington, emptied the house to reveal an astonishing hoard: 468 wax melts and candles, 195 pairs of shoes, 400 tampons destined for donation, and a surprising 208 bottles of gin collected over the years. After two intense days sorting through the overwhelming possessions, the family managed to part with more than half their belongings, making space for the team to work their magic.

As the home was transformed, Rob Bent crafted a special bed and elevated play area with built-in storage for El. He also renovated the garden room into a multi-functional space—a hair-cutting salon for Big Craig, a crafting area for Little Craig and El, and even a relaxing gin bar for the dads. Iwan Carrington gave the house a thorough clean, while Dilly organized the rooms, and Stacey added personalized touches such as a music box-themed mirror for El.

One of the most poignant moments came when Stacey surprised Big Craig with a thoughtful gift after learning he kept voice messages from his late grandfather. The team recorded these cherished messages onto a telephone placed next to a cozy armchair in the garden room, offering Big Craig a quiet place for reflection and comfort. This heartfelt gesture deeply moved viewers, sparking an emotional response across social media.

Another emotional highlight was the couple’s sharing of a handmade memory book for El, celebrating adoption and featuring celebrity adoptees. When Dilly spotted herself described as a “professional organiser and lover of leopard print” in the book, she was overcome with emotion.

Following the episode, Dilly expressed her admiration for the family on Instagram, praising their courage and kindness in opening their home to adoption. Fans echoed their feelings in comments, describing the episode as “beautiful,” “heartbreaking,” and their favorite ever.

The episode showcased the power of decluttering not just to create space, but to open doors to new beginnings, family bonds, and treasured memories.
